News and Updates

Silversound students and parents!

Summertime is here! Now is the time to take advantage of our Workshop Classes and Spotlights that will be available to you throughout the season. You can check the details below, but these classes are included with your tuition, so there’s no reason not to show! And if you want to bring a friend, just let the front desk know. Regardless, we’re talking about sixteen hours of free courses not including the Spotlights, which are short-form, focused education. The Spotlights are open to the public, so tell everyone you know!

Our Summer Recital will be held on August 2nd, and we will drop the signup sheets in mid-July. Make sure you sign up early, as space is limited! As always, Silversound does not charge any fees for recitals, so take advantage of honing your performance skills.

Juneteenth will be on Friday the 19th, and the school will be closed. Students will be receiving video lessons as per our Silversound Policy. If you have any questions or comments please reach out to us at the front desk.

Silversound Summer Schedule

Audio Production — Tuesdays @ 7pm with Kyle

The production class will be going over basics of recording including equipment types, setting up equipment, recording software, recording plugins, and the various recording techniques we use in different situations. This is driven mainly by the students who are there and what they are looking at learning.

Basics of Songwriting — @ 7pm with Kyle S

Our newest instructor, Kyle Stevens is a veteran songwriter, and will be guiding you through an intensive weekly course on the basics of composing your own songs one component at a time. Bring a song you’ve been working on or start writing at the first session. Each subsequent week will build on the last, so don’t miss out!

Guitar & Bass — Wednesdays @ 5pm with Nathan

On Wednesdays at 5:00pm, resident shredder Nathan will be hosting open guitar and bass seminars! This is the perfect place to come brush up on technique as well as ensemble and theory skills. You are welcome to attend whether you’re a beginner, a pro, or anywhere in between. Nathan will guide you through group warm ups, discussion time, specialized exercises, and answer your burning questions during an open Q&A.

Open Jam — Saturdays @ 3pm with Nathan

Nathan will be leading an open jam class once a week, indefinitely! Drop in and out as often as you’d like. No specific commitments required. You can choose if you want to take turns with others and plug in or just play along. Build your confidence and maybe join one of our smaller classes.

Silversound Spotlights

Bass & Guitar Setup and Workshop with Grant — Saturday 6/13 @ 3pm

This is an introductory course which will help you to better understand the components of a guitar and how they work together. This will help you understand what terms like action, fret buzz, tension, and so on mean. Grant will guide you through a basic restring and setup, which will help you to grasp the fundamentals of developing the best playability of your instrument.

Breath Control and Vocal Warmups with Kyle Stevens — Saturday 6/27 @ 4pm

Do you fancy yourself a singer, but you’ve never taken professional lessons? This Spotlight is a great place to begin. Your voice is an instrument like any other, and using the proper technique will help you to get the most out of it. You don’t know what you don’t know, right? And with a Masters in vocal performance, Kyle has plenty of knowledge to share.

Bass & Guitar Setup and Workshop with Jesse — Wednesday 7/15 @ 6:30pm

Much like Grant’s course in June, Jesse is here to help you better understand the components of a guitar and how they work together, but from his unique perspective. By the end of this class, you’ll know what terms like action, fret buzz, tension, and so on mean. Jesse will guide you through a basic restring and setup, which will help you to grasp the fundamentals of developing the best playability of your instrument.

Learn to Shred with Nathan — Saturday 7/18 @ 4pm

You’ve got the basics down, and now you’re ready for the next level. How do you get from strumming to shredding? Nathan has you covered. Although beginners will certainly get something out of this Spotlight, the focus will be on elevating the game of intermediate to advanced players.

Thanks for all your continued support and love of music,
Mark Young, Owner & Founder
