News and Updates

Silversound students and families!

We’ve got a lot happening at Silversound Guitar as we head into the final stretch of the year!

Our Winter Recital is coming up this December, and now is the perfect time to start thinking about what you’d like to perform. Whether it’s your first time taking the stage or you’re a recital regular, we can’t wait to see everyone show off what they’ve been working on. Stay tuned for more details!

Our Spotlight Series is also rolling along with fresh classes and new ways to explore music outside your regular lessons. Don’t forget about our other free workshop classes, too — they’re included with your tuition, so jump in, try something different, and make some music with the Silversound community. Parents and family members are welcome to join in as well!

Music is always more fun with friends. Know someone who would have a blast at Silversound? Ask the front desk about bringing a friend to your lesson and let them experience what we’re all about!

Silversound Fall Schedule

Audio Production — Tuesdays @ 7pm with Kyle

The production class will be going over basics of recording including equipment types, setting up equipment, recording software, recording plugins, and the various recording techniques we use in different situations. This is driven mainly by the students who are there and what they are looking at learning.

Basics of Songwriting Fridays @ 7pm with Jesse

Jesse is a veteran songwriter, and will be guiding you through an intensive weekly course on the basics of composing your own songs one component at a time. Bring a song you’ve been working on or start writing at the first session. Each subsequent week will build on the last, so don’t miss out!

Guitar & Bass — Wednesdays @ 5pm with Nathan

On Wednesdays at 5:00pm, resident shredder Nathan will be hosting open guitar and bass seminars! This is the perfect place to come brush up on technique as well as ensemble and theory skills. You are welcome to attend whether you’re a beginner, a pro, or anywhere in between. Nathan will guide you through group warm ups, discussion time, specialized exercises, and answer your burning questions during an open Q&A.

Open Jam — Saturdays @ 3pm with Nathan

Nathan will be leading an open jam class once a week, indefinitely! Drop in and out as often as you’d like. No specific commitments required. You can choose if you want to take turns with others and plug in or just play along. Build your confidence and maybe join one of our smaller classes.

Silversound Spotlights

Break Out of the Box: Guitar Improv with Dylan — Saturday, 9/19 @ Noon

Ready to move beyond memorized riffs and start creating your own? Dylan will break down the fundamentals of guitar improvisation, including how to choose the right notes, follow chord changes, build musical phrases, and play with greater confidence. Whether you’re new to soloing or looking to get out of a creative rut, bring your guitar and get ready to jam!

Harsh Vocals: Screams, Growls, and Grit with Jesse — Tuesday, 9/22 @ 7pm

Ready to give your vocals some serious edge? This Spotlight explores the fundamentals behind screams, growls, grit, and other aggressive vocal textures heard throughout metal, hardcore, punk, and heavy rock. Jesse will break down how breath support, vocal control, and proper warmups can help you produce a powerful sound without simply forcing or straining your voice. Whether you’re discovering your scream for the first time or want more control over your existing sound, come get loud with us!

Take the Stage: Performance Workshop with Grant — Date TBD

Playing the right notes is only part of delivering a great performance. This Spotlight will help you build the confidence, energy, and awareness needed to connect with an audience and make your performance memorable. Grant will cover movement, audience interaction, body language, recovering from mistakes, and performing with your bandmates. Whether you’re preparing for the Winter Recital or simply want to feel more comfortable in front of a crowd, this workshop will help you step up and perform with confidence!

From Zero to Studio: Recording Techniques with Nathan — Date TBD

Ready to turn your ideas into polished recordings? Nathan will take you through the studio-recording process from the ground up, covering equipment setup, microphone placement, signal levels, tracking, and techniques for capturing a clean, professional sound. No previous recording experience is needed — just bring your curiosity and get ready to take your music from zero to studio!

Start Playing the Blues: Blues Guitar with Parker — Date TBD

You don’t need years of experience to start playing the blues! In this beginner-friendly Spotlight, Parker will break down the essential chords, rhythms, scales, and techniques that give blues guitar its unmistakable sound. Newer players will receive an easy introduction to the style, while experienced guitarists can sharpen their phrasing, improvisation, and feel. All skill levels are welcome — just bring your guitar and get ready to play!

Dial It In: Bass & Guitar Setup with Jesse — Date TBD

Want your guitar or bass to feel better, sound cleaner, and play more smoothly? Jesse will break down how your instrument’s key components work together and explain terms like action, string tension, intonation, and fret buzz. You’ll also learn the fundamentals of restringing and performing a basic setup.

Regular maintenance helps prevent avoidable wear, improves tuning and playability, and keeps small issues from turning into costly repairs. Knowing when your instrument needs attention — and how to handle the basics yourself — can help it perform reliably and last for years. Bring your instrument and get ready to learn what it takes to keep it playing at its best!
